Maryland Car Insurance Coverages

Liability Insurance (Required
by Law)
|
| This is an insurance option that protects the driver
that has caused the accident. There are two types
of liability insurance that is required by Maryland
State Law: Bodily Injury Liability Coverage & Property
Liability Coverage. |

Bodily Injury Liability Insurance |
This protects the accused from victims that
file a lawsuit based on personal injuries. Bodily
Injury Coverage will:
- Pay to settle claim out of court
- Cover the cost of a defense lawyer
- Cover the cost you are ordered to pay deemed
by the courts

Property Damage Liability Insurance |
This option protects teh accused from victims that
file a lawsuit based on property damage. Propety
Damage will cover:
- Cover the cost of a lawyer
- Pay to settle a claim out of courst
- Cover the cost ordered by the courts

Maryland Law Requires:
20,000 for bodily injury per person
40,000 bodily injury per accident
15,0000 property damage |

Unisured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage (Required
by Law) |
| This is an insurance option that covers you if
you have been an accident with a motorist that does
not have insurance or a hit and run. |

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) |
| An option that covers you (or others named on your
policy) medical expenses that has incurred in a car
accident. |

Maryland Law Requires:
2,500 PIP for each person named on the policy

| IMPORTANT |
| PIP coverage can be denied by your insurance agency
if the claims are not properly and timely filed.
It is imperative that you contact your insurance
company immediately after an accident has occured
and request PIP forms be sent to you. |

| Note: PIP is very similar to health
insurance, therefore many insurers decide to wave
this option. It should also be noted that PIP covers
lost wages and passengers' medical expenses, which
is not covered under most health insurance policies. |

The Following are not
Required by Maryland State Law: |

Physical Damage Coverage (Comprehensive or
Collision) |
| Is a coverage option that protects you against
expenses related to damage or loss to your vehicle.
This includes accidents that you caused, theft or
vandalism to your vehicle. |

- Collision - will cover your repair to your vehicle
or worth before an accident has occured. Collision
coverage is rewarded regardless of fault.
- Comprehensive - will cover the
damage inflicted to your vehilce incase of theft
or vandalism.

Medical Payments Coverage |
| Covers expenses for you or others injured or killed
while riding in your vehicle. |
| |
Rental Reimbursement Coverage |
| This is an option that will cover the cost of renting
a vehicle while your car is being repaired. |

Transportation Expense Coverage |
| This option will cover additional transportation
cost like rental or bus fare, while your vehicle
is being repaired. |
| |
Towing or Labor Coverage |
| This covers the expense of towing your vehicle
to a repair shop after an accident. |
