more.
Iowa Auto Insurance Laws
Iowa auto insurance law requires liability coverage of 20/40/15.
That is bodily injury coverage of $20,000 per person, up to
$40,000 for all persons per accident, and property damage
coverage of $15,000 for damages that you caused.
Liability insurance pays damages to others, on your behalf
if you are the insured. It pays for injuries or damaged property
claims against you, up to the policy limit. Uninsured Motorist
Insurance may also be included on a policy. Uninsured Motorist
coverage would protect you when that other “uninsured”
driver causes an accident which damages your vehicle or injures
you or your passengers. Although not required by law, this
coverage is for protection of the policyholder's loss or damages
inflicted in that accident.
Comprehensive and collision coverage is not required by IA
law, but is usually required by the lender (bank or finance
company) if there is a loan on the vehicle or by the leasing
company if it is leased.
