If
you find that your vehicle has been stolen, call the police
immediately! Any delay of contacting the police will only
help the thief or thieves. Many times the report can be taken
over the telephone; the quicker the police can process your
information, the quicker they can start searching for your
vehicle. There are also some other measures that can be taken
to help your local law enforcement in their search. They are
listed below:

- Always keep a copy of the registration
and insurance information in a safe place. If you have any
high price merchandize attacked to the vehicle like stereo,
speakers, etc. Keep the receipts and serial numbers easily
accessible to quickly relay valuable information to law
enforcement.
- Marking and photographing your
vehicle can make it easier for the police to identify and
recover the stolen vehicle. One way to mark your car is
to engrave the VPN number in an inconspicuous location under
the hood, trunk or in the vehicle.
- Use discretion when you see someone tampering with your
car. Do not play hero call 911 immediately. Always assume
that you are dealing with a professional criminal that is
willing harm you if necessary.
- If you locate your vehicle after reporting it stolen,
be aware that the thief might be nearby. Call the police
immediately and report your location. Be cautious and aware
of your surrounding. Do not attempt to move or touch the
vehicle in order to preserve the evidence.
